Sports Massage Therapist in Norwich
Emma has always been interested in anatomy, sports and movement as she was a dancer and gymnast until the age of 17. It was Emma’s dream to be a professional dancer on stage, but after a nasty injury to her knees and ankles during a competition, those dreams were shattered.
Unfortunately Emma didn’t get the right advice back then and there was always another competition to go to, so she never rehabilitated the injuries correctly and subsequently, they got worse over time, instead of better and she was finally forced to quit altogether.
After working abroad as a holiday rep and cabaret dancer, the injuries resurfaced and once again prevented her from pursuing her passions. After trying various careers and jobs from a cocktail waitress to running a pub or events organiser, Emma realised she had a passion for caring for the elderly which gave her rewarding job satisfaction.
This led her to a path of learning and becoming a qualified massage therapist as it combines her natural way to help people relax, de-stress and help repair muscles so that they can perform better and feel better. Emma quickly realised that just massaging a painful area sometimes only provides short term relief, therefore a different strategy needs to be incorporated to actually fully alleviate problems.
Emma went on to qualify as a level 3 and 4 sports therapist to increase her knowledge and understanding of both anatomy and human movement to understand exactly what to massage and what and then combine this with either stretching or strengthening exercises and correct the imbalance and fully alleviate the painful problem. Many times this means the problem does not return rather than just repeatedly treating the symptoms with massage.
“Most of the time, the pain is actually being caused from the opposite side of the body. Plus, people get just as much from the talking as they do the treatments and physical advice” Emma Says.
What my clients say...
“My treatments helped me recover by removing toxins from my muscles that would have otherwise hampered my growth, recovery and overall performance. Emma tailors the treatment to your requirements and focuses on the areas that need it. She can do deep tissue sports massage which I enjoy (pain and pleasure) and offers a great tailored service. Aside from any massage, Emma makes me feel relaxed and comfortable with her great personality and sense of humour. After the massage she will give you tips based on what you are doing and what to work on when following up with any future treatments.”PT Client, Norwich
